Relegation Battle In Division One Going Down To The Wire, WYFC06 Almost There, Corinthians Move Step Closer, HOB and Scorpions neck and neck |
Sunday 15th April 2018 |
Dragons’ 2-0 win over Swiss left the founder members with a lot to do in the last two games to avoid the drop, French Kiss’ 1-1 draw with Squadron also leaves them with a lot to do after Boca’s 7-1 win against Hearts put a little daylight between themselves and the second tier, Wanderers, with a previously unblemished record, went down to their second defeat in their last four games this time a 2-4 defeat to cup finalists Colts, a result that looks like it could be HKFC teams finishing in the top three positions for the second successive season, in the other game cup finalists Spartans overcame 2016 champions, GAS, 3-0, a result that proved expensive for the Hun’s legendary player-manager, Adam Wise.
Knights’ hard fought 2-0 win over a competitive GGFC leaves them, realistically, needing a point from the last two games to go up to division one as champions, Wah Yan’s Class of ’06 also need a point to be, mathematically, certain of joining them in the top tier for the first time after a narrow 2-1 win over Chairman’s Cup finalists, IES, HKU70s leapfrogged Colloids and Maccabi, who shared the points and two goals in their game, into third place after edging Chairman’s Cup finalists, White Youth, by the odd goal in three, ANP went down 0-1 to Dynamo, only goal of the game a bullet header from league legend and now global nomad (think Kwai Chang Caine in Kung Fu), Jon McKinlay, a result that gives the Civil Servants a five point cushion from the relegation zone with two to go and Antonhill’s 4-1 win over Yan Po means they are guaranteed to be playing division two football next season.
Corinthians’ 2-1 win over CSOB leaves them nicely placed to go up to division two as champions, Green Cypress maintained their promotion challenge following a 3-1 win over BoC, Power 22 are well positioned to gain promotion after a 3-2 win against Grasshoppers and play Corinthians in the next round, HKSS and Goal Visio played out one of the only two scoreless games and HOB stung Scorpions 2-0 to leave the relegation battle evenly poised.
Gurkha Intl were crowned division four champions despite being held to a 1-1 draw by Skyline, joining them in division three next season are NFAA who came away with a 3-0 win over fellow new boys ADW, CAPS are third following a 3-0 win over Rising Sun who stay fourth, Hung Art won by the odd goal in five against OBA, the game between WYFC84 and Standard Chartered was scoreless and Bapcoll edged a game FOB side, 3-2.
