The Yau Yee League was, once again, represented in both the main and masters tournament at this year’s HKFC Citi Soccer 7s.
A very high standard of opposition saw both teams struggle from a results perspective during the early part of the weekend, despite some good performances. This was then emphatically rectified on the Sunday, thanks to two brilliant results from the main team.
In the quarter final of the Plate the YYL were drawn against the HKFC 1st Team, who they duly dispatched thanks to a cool Edwin Tizard penalty. Next up was Kitchee, who were overcome by the same 1-0 scoreline and featured one of the goals of the tournament from Amro Abbas. It definitely wasn’t a cross. Moving into the final, the YYL came up against the ‘Upside-down Geordies’, who unfortunately proved too strong, with the Plate Final ending Newcastle Jets 2-0 Yau Yee League.
