Boca Seniors v Hoo Cheung, 16 December 2007
- Red Card for Violent Conduct

The Disciplinary Sub-committee (DSC) of the Yau Yee League has reviewed reports from the referee and both teams involved, on an incident that led to a player receiving a red card for violent conduct in the above match.
Based on the reports and further confirmation from the referee, the DSC concluded that the player was guilty of deliberately throwing the ball at an injured player who was on the ground at the time.
The DSC considered that this was an act of violent conduct and one that could have led to further incident between the teams. For this reason it decided to apply the penalties provided under the Rules and Regulations for cases of violent conduct, and accordingly the penalty is as follows –

A $500 fine
A three-match ban
3 disciplinary points.

The team in question appealed the penalty on the grounds that the player’s action was not malicious, and that his good disciplinary record suggested that an act of violent conduct would be out of character. Under Rule 60, an appeal against a disciplinary decision must be made within 72 hours of the team or the player being made aware of the decision. As the team’s appeal fell outside the time limit for making an appeal, in the absence of any exceptional circumstances that might reasonably have accounted for the delay in submitting an appeal, the DSC decided not to consider this case further.
