| Congratulations to Colts who beat Wanderers in a great final yesterday to win the 2007 YYL Cup on penalties. The score was 3-3 after 80 minutes with no additonal goals in extra-time. Wanderers went 2-0 up in the first half courtesy of a brace from Dave Robinson, one a cracker from the edge of the box. Colts drew level with goals from Jack Beacher and Mike Wilson in the second half. A Darren McEntee header put Wanderers 3-2 ahead only for Wilson to score again and equalise with 10 mins remaining. Both teams had chances in extra-time but did not convert and then penalties decided the outcome with Anto Grabo, Wilson, Jack Beacher and Niall Rowark scoring for Colts and Mark Hulbert and Mark Bavis converting for Wanderers leaving the penalty shoot out 4-2 in favour of Colts. A great cup final played in good spirit that either side could have won with the young lads (aided by a couple of golden oldies) taking back the honours to Happy Valley. |
