Squadron made it to their first cup final for ten years after a nail-biting penalties win over Swiss. Just as the ’94 cup final between these two teams ended 2-2 after extra-time and went to penalties so did this one…In a game of two halves Squadron hit the woodwork 4 times before eventually scoring the first goal but Swiss were able to come back and with the scores locked at 2-2 in the last minute of extra-time Swiss saw a screamer-of-a-35-yard-free-kick hit the post with the Squadron keeper well beaten, it then went to penalties and Squadron prevailed and will be joined in the final by Albion who came away with a narrow 1-0 win over a spirited Knights side with Jan Souleyman scoring the only goal of the game.
In the Chairman’s Cup, GGFC made light work of White Youth coming away with a 6-1 win with Sam Ameen notching a hat-trick for the GGs. ANP will be joining the Boys in Blue in the Chairman’s Cup final after coming back from 2-1 down to equalize in the last minute of normal time and take their game with Azzurri into extra-time before they scored the winner with penalties beckoning. Both Cup Finals will be played at Hong Kong Football Club on Saturday 28 May 2016 and will be scheduled in due course.
In the third division HKUSA beat HOB 6-3 in the match of the day and HKSS pulled a bit further away from the relegation places after a 4-3 win over CSOB.
In the fourth division Friends of Barclays ensured they will be playing third division football next season after beating Rising Sun 2-0 although they still trail leaders Maccabi, who hammered WYFC84 6-2, by seven point, in the other games Standard Chartered shaded Skyline 3-1 and Power 22 did their promotion prospects no harm after overcoming Hung Art by the same scoreline.
