Knights, lead by player-coach-guru JB, are now mathematically certain to be playing in division one next season following a 5-1 win over Dynamo that leaves the civil servants still looking over their shoulders at the end of season run-in, WYFC06 look favourites to join Knights in division one after their 4-0 win over HKU70s, Colloids beat relegated GGs 3-0, Maccabi won 2-0 against ANP and Chairman’s Cup finalists IES and White Youth (and what a mouthwatering final that promises to be) came away with a 1-0 victory and a 1-2 defeat respectively in their games with Yan Po and Antonhill.
Corinthians, with only a point from their previous 3 games, increased their lead at the top of the third tier after edging HKSS by the odd goal in three, Green Cypress are still second after sharing the points and four goals with Darts, CSOB went down 1-2 to Power 22, Grasshoppers won 3-2 against Goal Visio and Bank of China stung Scorpions 4-0.
Gurkha Intl’s narrow 3-2 win over Rising Sun means, barring a mathematical miracle, they will be going up to division three as Champions, they will be joined by new boys NFAA who shaded Skyline 3-1, CAPS hit ADW for six meaning they leapfrogged Rising Sun into third place, Hung Art were 5-2 victors over FOB, Wah Yan’s Class of ’84 beat OBA 3-1 and Bapcoll were defeated 1-3 by Standard Chartered.
Two weekends off now for Easter and Rugby 7s, followed by the final three weeks of the league programme, Cup Finals and dinner at HKFC on Saturday 5 May, first round of the 6s on 13 May, HKFC Intl Soccer 7s (with YYL teams represented in both the Main and Masters Tournaments) from 18-20 May and 6s finals on 27 May.
