Exco XI 3 HKFRA 2 - Friday 2nd September 2016 |
Monday 5th September 2016 |
The Exco XI got their season off to a winning start with a hard fought victory over a compact and youthful Refs XI. With Cairnsy keeping goal with all the aplomb associated with his care of the league coffers and a back four including such luminaries as David Bloomfield, JT, Col and Baz Brown it was always going to be difficult for the White Stickers to score many goals and so it came to pass. The possession football, so loved by the King’s Park faithful, eventually paid off for the ‘Co with the defense linking well with a midfield consisting of Wong, Wise, Johnson, Lo and Fred who, in turn, provided more than a few chances for hardworking forwards Nick Day and Roman. With the scores locked at 2-2 well into injury time, it was left to the dependable left foot of Adam Wise to find Fred at the far post with a well taken free-kick, who made no mistake from a yard out to give him a brace for the evening that added to a goal from the other ringer, Roman. Big thanks to the Refs for playing their part in a flowing game played in great spirit and bravo to Baz Brown, strong at the back and more than useful going forward, for almost nicking the man-of-the-match award.
