Mobsters, pointless after their first three matches and having conceded eight goals and scoring none, have made it two wins in a row after a thoroughly deserved 3-2 victory over a USRC team that had maximum points until yesterday, leading the way for the Mob was skipper and man of the match John Fawcett who opened the scoring with a superb volley, Michael Charlwood “weighed in” with his first goal for almost 3 years and what a goal it was, a screamer from 35 yards and finishing off the scoring was that man again, Laurence Finnerty, who scored his second goal in a week, 816 and KCC remain the only teams in all four divisions to have maximum points after they won 2-1 and 3-0 against Swiss and Antonhill respectively, Paul Crompton getting a brace for the Dragons with the other coming from the first ever YYL goal from Sam “Flash” Trayford son of KCC stalwart and legend, Mike Trayford.
In the first round of the cup HKUSA easily dispatched Skyline 4-1 in the early game at Sandy Bay, Oxford shaded IES 2-1, the Old Boys of Community Sports beat the versatile Amphibians 3-1, Hung Art edged HKU70s 2-1, Yan Po scored the only goal in their match with Standard Chartered, Youth Coaches went down 0-2 to GGFC, Scorpions stung WYFC84 3-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw was played out in the first seventy minutes, San Miguel Boca had too much bottle for Barclays running out 4-0 victors, Rising Sun overcame CAPS 4-1, Hoo Cheung were surprise 2-3 losers to Darts in the early game at Community Sports, Power 22 won 3-0 against Bapcoll, ANP beat WYFC06 by the odd goal in three, Colloids won by the same score-line against Grasshoppers, Corinthians scored the only goal of the match in their game with Crusaders, HKSS beat University 1-0, Hearts won 3-0 against White Youth and OBA went down 2-4 to Azzurri.
Draws for the second round of the Cup and the preliminary round and first round of the Chairman’s Cup will be held shortly with most games scheduled on 6th November.
