White Youth v HKDC Squadron – 15 October Red Card and Report of Misconduct against White Youth player |
Wednesday 25th October 2006 |
The Disciplinary Sub-committee (DSC) has reviewed the reports on a red card for violent conduct received by a White Youth player in the above match, as well a referee’s report on misconduct by the same player following the award of the red card. The DSC has reached the following decision –
1) Given that the red card was shown for violent conduct and that this was the second time in successive seasons that the player in question had been dismissed for violent conduct against an opposition player, a further one-match ban should apply in addition to the minimum three-match ban stipulated under the rules, so that the penalty would be as follows –
• A four-match ban, effective from 22 October 2006
• A fine of $500
• Three disciplinary points.
2) In the light of the player’s subsequent foul and abusive language and threatening conduct towards the match official when the official was carrying out his duties, the following additional penalties should apply –
• A further four-match ban
• An additional fine of $1,000.
In all, the player is subject to a ban of eight matches, a fine of $1,500 and three disciplinary points.
Violent conduct towards opponents, and abuse and threatening behaviour towards officials, are both serious offences and have no place in the Yau Yee League. DSC will continue to penalise such offences harshly, and may impose extended bans and punitive fines should repeat offences occur.
