The battle for the first division championship got a whole lot more interesting after leaders 816 went down 0-3 to draw specialists USRC who moved up to third place, Albion stay in second and reduced the gap to three points after a 2-2 derby draw with Wanderers who are now fifth – 816 and Albion play each other next week in a match that could decide the title, KCC jumped to fourth position after an emphatic 5-1 win over Colts, GAS won 1-0 against Antonhill that leaves the latter in penultimate place and three points from safety – the only goal of the game a superb strike from the division’s leading scorer, Chris Davis, Mobsters are still not in the clear but a 3-1 win over Swiss puts some light between them and the relegation places, Tem Hansen scoring two second half goals for the Mob, both which would be in contention for goal of the season and Spartans won the proverbial six-pointer with French Kiss 2-1 - one of the Spartans goals a 30 yard pile-driver of a free-kick from Gabriel Bonnet (pronounced the same way as the front of a car).
Squadron, one of the league’s founding teams, look as though the only season they will have spent outside of the first division since the league’s inception in 1977 will result in a second division championship after they beat second place KCC Knights in what may have been the title decider, White Youth are still in with a chance of promotion and closed the gap on Knights to just two points after putting HKSS to the sword 4-0, Azzurrri and Hearts are fourth and seventh respectively after they drew 1-1, Colloids are fifth after they went down 0-1 to a Hoo Cheung team who now look safe from relegation and University shaded Oxford 2-1 in a match that still leaves both teams fighting one another to avoid the other relegation place along with HKSS who are now mathematical certainties to go down to division three.
Only four points separate the top four teams in division three with Corinthians remaining in pole position after they beat GGFC 2-0, OBA moved to within one point of the summit after they came back from 3-1 down to win 4-3 against a Dynamo teams that are now in fourth place and four points adrift of first place Corinthians - the two teams meet in next week’s “El Crappico” fixture, Yan Po are still fifth and went down by the odd goal in eleven in the days most exciting game with Darts, CSOB went down 1-4 to Crusaders, Wah Yan’s Class of ’84 won 5-1 against Hung Art who will now be playing fourth division football as a result and Grasshoppers stung the already relegated Scorpions, 3-2.
WYFC06 moved closer to promotion to division three and the fourth division championship after edging Rising Sun 2-1, HOB moved into second place following a 3-0 win over CAPS, Standard Chartered remain in fourth spot but are now out of the running for promotion after being hit for six by a HKU70s team that moved into the top half of the table, IES are fifth after beating Barclays 3-1, Amphibians beat Bapcoll 4-0 leaving the teams in eighth and ninth places respectively and Youth Coaches won 4-0 in their game with Skyline.
