What a day…Albion lost 2-1 to USRC and took the bus back across to Sports Road expecting to watch 816 beat Colts and move a big step closer to their first championship, however, Colts, who at the start of the day were still not out of the relegation mix, had other ideas and won 3-1, now we not only have 816 and Albion level on points with one match to go but USRC are only 1 point behind the leaders after closing the gap over the previous two weeks with all the stealth of a rather smart fox with a Phd from Hull University, in addition, KCC Dragons, 1-0 victors over Wanderers thanks to a goal from “super-sub” John O’Reilley, are now only three points behind and are also in with a shout – with the last round of fixtures to be played on 1st May, we have 816 playing Dragons, Albion vs Colts and USRC against Wanderers, a headache for the schedulers, but a very pleasant one…In the other games Mobsters made certain they will be playing division one football next season after a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Antonhil, Mob goals courtesy of two headers from Malcolm Louden and White Hart Lane’s very own Ben McLannahan, Spartans pulled two goals back but it wasn’t enough to avoid a 2-3 defeat to GAS and Swiss won 5-3 against French Kiss – Spartans need a point from their last game against Swiss and should they fail to achieve this and Antonhill win against French Kiss, they will be down.
Knights and Squadron made sure the second division championship will go to the last day after 1-0 and 3-1 wins over White Youth and Oxford respectively, Azzurri remain in fourth spot despite a 1-2 reversal against ANP, Colloids were broken 7-0 by Hearts, Hoo Cheung beat Boca 2-0 and University and HKSS drew 1-1.
HKUSA are assured of promotion and almost certainly the third division championship after hitting Hung Art for six, Outward Bound missed a wonderful opportunity to get their foot in the second division door after they went down 2-3 to CSOB, Corinthians are still in contention as a result of the OBA draw after they were held 1-1 by Yan Po, Dynamo are most certainly still in the mix after their game with WYFC 84 was abandoned due to lightning as was the game between Grasshoppers and GGFC and Darts beat Crusaders 1-0 in the early game at Community Sports.
WYFC06 are still not crowned champions of the fourth division after they were held to a 2-2 draw with Bapcoll, the lightning called a truce in the battle for the other promotion place as the game between Power 22 and HOB was abandoned, IES drew 1-1 with HKU70s, Amphibians beat Barclays 2-0, the Rising Sun vs Youth Coaches game was abandoned due to the weather and CAPS shaded Skyline 3-2.
The abandoned games will be re-arranged in due course and all teams should visit the fixtures page on the website as there will be many changes to round 22 ko times and venues to accommodate the various promotion, championship and relegation issues.
